Refettorio in Harlem

Last year, my team launched a new partnership program with Refettorio in Harlem. With support from Art Bridges and Ghetto Gastro, that first dinner became a way for us to step beyond museum walls and build deeper and intentional connections with the communities we serve.

Now in its second year, The Met is proud to carry this vision forward and establish the Community Dinner as a legacy program within our community engagement work. We know that strengthening community power is a collective effort. This gathering honors that truth. We bring together community leaders and members of organizations who collaborate with The Met throughout the year. It’s a moment to share a meal, celebrate partnership, and recognize the meaningful work our community partners champion every day across New York City. We are honored to partner with Free Food and Unconditional Freedom in support of their commitment to nourishing the Harlem community through programs and initiatives that address food insecurity and advance food justice.

Congratulations and gratitude to my colleague Jinelle T. for championing the iteration and continuation of this program.
