We sold out the first Spanish-language public program of the Nuestro New York series at The Met. Community engagement requires radical transformation and The Met witnessed 700+ Spanish-speaking New Yorkers take up space. To hear Spanish take over the halls of the museum, throughout the audience and within the program, and to witness people learning in español, laughing in español, feeling in español, was the greatest joy of my tenure at The Met. Thank you to Frida Escobedo and Laura González Fierro for being partners in this effort, for welcoming New Yorkers in a language of their own; Heidi Holder for leading us with intention, and to my team for elevating this mission into a historic moment.
